You’re probably a lot like me…always cheering for others to succeed and motivating them to stay focused on their goals. It’s part of what drives me and makes me happy. I LOVE helping others to succeed!
But there are times when I’m the one who needs to be motivated. My husband does a great job at being my number one fan but there are times, especially when I don’t do so well in my day to day life, when I need to pick myself up, dust myself off and “keep it moving”!
Here’s how I do it…
3 Quick Ways to Keep Yourself Motivated
1 – Take a step back from the situation and give yourself a break. Go on vacation for 10 or 15 minutes. Literally. Look at pictures from a vacation you took and reminisce about how relaxing it was. If you don’t have pictures of a vacation, browse the internet and find pictures of the places you’d like to visit and in your mind GO THERE!
2 – Receiving an unpleasant email from someone always brings my mood down. In order to combat this; when I get an email thanking me for something I’ve done, I move it into a folder in my email program labeled, “Wendy’s Kudos”. When I’m down, when those “who do you think you are” voices or emails show up or if I’m in need of a mood booster, I read the kudos emails. It always makes me feel better.
3 – If I’m feeling unloved or unappreciated, and no one is answering the telephone when I call, it can sometimes ruin my whole day. Now, I save my birthday, mother’s day and anniversary cards in a memento box I keep on a shelf in my home office. So, anytime I feel unworthy, I take those cards out and read them. They remind me how much I’m loved by others.
These are easy ways to get your mindset and your mood changed when no one is around to do it for you. In the comments below, tell me which one of these you’re going to start doing today!
